Olongapo City National High School traces its humble beginning in 1946 during the recovering period of the Filipinos from World War II as a Reservation High School. Though it is known as the biggest and Premier school in the city at present, it started with an initial enrollment of 320 learners under the US Naval Administration. Its growth and development mirrored the progress of the city until it was renamed Olongapo High School after it was turned over to the Republic of the Philippines in 1954.

Olongapo City National High School stays committed in offering quality services to its clients. Along its dedicated and competent teaching and non-teaching staff, English Department is one of its faculties, that ensures the effective implementation of the best practices and mechanisms to enhance student- learning outcomes. Under the leadership of Dr. Arturo L. Reyes, the Department Head VI, and Dr. Soledad E. Pozon, the School Principal IV, English Department continues to serve the Department of Education’s vision, mission and values. It works with a clear focus and shared responsibilities to meet the high standards and provide exceptional quality of education among its stakeholders.

The Faculty of English language holds a remarkable history. It was headed by the strategic and skilled Department Heads who served as a great influence in upholding the department’s vision. Its purpose revolves in recognizing learners’ full potential, focusing on curriculum instruction and assessment, and providing professional development among its teaching staff to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the demands of the system and works collaboratively to adhere the needs of the learners and the community. Each faculty member develops programs projects and activities for the improvement of learning. Research projects and innovations are proposed and conducted to support the learners’ academic needs and increase teaching and learning performance.

At present, English Department soars high as it responds to the challenges of the new-normal education. It persists to innovate, collaborate, and share partnership as it takes pride in delivering the trust of the Department of Education in developing life-long learners who are globally competitive and responsive to the changing needs of the 21st century.
