DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY

The importance of Social Studies education cannot be undermined. Social Studies is the teaching of disciplines focused on developing the students’ critical thinking skills. These skills will allow them to become active, responsive, and productive members in community alongside other issues. This is vital to students in understanding and promoting their ideas relative to serving the Philippine society. Domains of Social Studies help students develop critical thinking, to formulating their opinions and perspectives on various topics mostly on societal, cultural and political spheres. It cultivates among learners the sense of readiness in times of adversities. The philosophy of the faculty is also anchored on investigation about nature, practice, and theories of social life.

Social Studies education covers courses such as History, Geography, Sociology, Economics, and the Political Sciences. These disciplines being intertwined together teaches core understanding on Filipino life, patriotism, and nationalism. Junior High School Curriculum covers Asian History, World History, Economics and Contemporary Issues. These courses do not simply teach data banking; they help students value the significance of existence as well as departure. Furthermore, the discipline provides avenues for students to actualize theories and concepts gained in real life situations. These, which have been fostered early on will be the cornerstone of nation building.

The DepEd Core Values: Love of God, Love of Mankind, Love of Environment, and Love of Country reflect the person in us- the faculty members. Hence, it is meant creating God-fearing, humanistic, environmental friendly, and nationalistic individuals who can be game engagers in the hope of having a stronger nation.
