INDIGENOUS PEOPLES PROGRAM

VISION

Impelled by the spirit of love and care to the Indigenous Learners, Olongapo City National High School (OCNHS) envisions to preserve and promote Indigenous Culture

MISSION

To help realize our vision, we commit ourselves to provide the indigenous students with:

  1. Development of Self-confidence and sense of belongingness as significant individual in the community.
  2. Emphasis on the value of self- reliance in order to live as functional and productive individual.
  3. Training for the skills and competencies enriching their knowledge and appreciation of their own MUSIC, DANCE, ARTS, VALUES AND CULTURE as a whole.
  4. Providing enriching activities as an opportunity to serve others through service learning activities.

Education for All (EFA) is what OCNHS desires to provide to all the students. Recently, the lifelong dream of the indigenous peoples to have an educational program that is rooted in their life, culture, traditions and aspirations has materialized. Indigenous People Program (IPP), one of the special programs of OCNHS is designed to meet the needs of the Indigenous Learners (AETA), putting them together, promoting and preserving Aeta Culture.

One of the pastimes of the Aetas is Talipi Dance. It is a dance in which the tribe imitates and describes their daily life and the animals around them.

The Value of Self-reliance

The Indigenous Peoples Program teaches our Aeta learners the value of self-reliance in order to live as functional and productive individuals.

They plant trees and when it’s harvest time, they sell their products in the school for the teachers to enjoy fresh vegetables and fruits.
