Olongapo City National High School, November 23, 2023 – In the commitment to advancing mathematical knowledge and empowering students to become adept problem solvers, the Olongapo City National High School Mathematics Department recently conducted its annual school-based Math Fair. Spearheaded by the Mathematics Department Head, Ma’am Maxima A. Munio, together with 27 math teachers, the event showcased the diverse facets of mathematics in a fun and educational manner attracting participants and attendees from all grades.
Math Fair 2023, with the theme: “Explore, Engage, Excel”, led by the Mathematics Club Advisers, Ma’am Cyrene Joy B. Bermido and Ma’am Michelle C. Salvia, including its Math Club Officers, played a vital role in making the event successful.
The fair aimed to break the stereotype of mathematics being dull and challenging by presenting it as an exciting and accessible field with real-world applications. The fair included math challenges and games such as Tower of Hanoi, Rubik’s Cube, Sudoku Puzzle, Poster making, Tessellation, Math Trail, Math Quiz, Math Tiktok and Math Bench Cheering Competition for participants of all grade levels, encouraging friendly competition and collaboration.
The success of the Math Fair underscores the Mathematics Department’s commitment to making mathematics an exciting and accessible subject for all students. The Mathematics Department and Mathematics Club of OCNHS look forward to continuing their efforts to inspire a lifelong love for mathematics among the school community.
